Lean angle improved

Practice. I'm thinking to remove or change the foot peg bolts because it touches the asphalt. It is a good indicator that you are very close to the limit but the bolt could be a bit shorter. I still have 0.5 mm chicken stripe :D

If corner is a bit bumpy and suspension is compressed, I think the original antennas scrape at less than 40 degree lean angle.

I replaced instead of removed for two reasons.
1. Provide some warning and saving boots from accidently touching ground.
2. Saving pegs from scratches, ruining the threads for the antennas. Better to replace the bolt than the whole peg.

Anders, hoping you can help; sounds silly but I'm struggling to find the hex-head things you used on the foot pegs.....what should I be looking for?

Hi, I just had them in the garage in the spare nuts & bolts drawer. Don't know if it's a std M8 thread or what. Any well sorted hardware store or Bauhaus or what they are called in your hoods. I can measure threads tomorrow if you need that info. Or just undo yours and bring along when shopping.

I took mine off and popped to my local establishments... No joy.

I'll do some internet shopping, likely to have more joy. Just wanted to know what they're called.....they look like hex-key-grub-bolts??

Nope, the thread is M8x1.25mm (= Ø 8 mm and 1.25 mm thread pitch).
Bolt type is called MC6S.
And different coatings/materials (cold or warm zink, A2 or A4 stainless etc.)
Then you have different lengths, would say 10 mm is long enough.

In Sweden at least the bolt would be called: MC6S FZB M8X10H

You can get stainless socket (allen) screws from Screwfix. Button head may be more aesthetically pleasing and perhaps a little less likely to dig in if you did manage to ground one?

Various lengths available and you get fifty of them for just shy of six quid. So can afford to wear a few down if you're feeling particularly keen.

Perhaps, if you had just bought a new "cage" MT you could paint them Red... ;-)

I'm considering pink to match my missus knickers :-)

Cage owners will never lean over that far, stock antennas works fine ;-)

Not criticising anyone wanting to mod these on their bike to be shorter, but I thought I'd add my recent findings... having been dumb enough to attempt to sit my bike down without the side stand in place, this long slider basically saved the rest of my bike touching the ground, and bent it's mounting casting on the footpeg inwards taking the weight. Basically sacrificing itself!

Replacement foot peg body cost is £18 - so these are a pretty useful little device in my experience!

Good point, but....

I value everyday riding abilities over seldom accidents.

Also, that same side-stand faux pas could very easily happen and that oversized hero-blob stick would offer zero protection.

Still, it's a good point you raise.
