Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

I've read most posts about it - mine has had everything done that was suggested, up to and including replacing the cam chain tensioner (no idea why, but Yamaha did it anyway). Throttle bodies have been synced. Unless it's tips on clutch control, have I missed something?

    MT 07 Rear carrier rack

There is a luggage compartment that will carry helmet, boots, waterproof gear and a laptop bag pretty easily. You can see one fitted here: http://i.imgur.com/onkVLpJ.jpg

    Chain tension?

My MT03 did about 12,000 miles before the original cush drives got sloppy, plus another 2,000 or so when I shimmed them with an old cut up rubber inner tube. They'd only allow the sprocket to move back and forward though, which wouldn't account for a chain coming off. It could only be either...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

Could be a different, or additional problem. Mine has never not restarted immediately after the stall. Have never had any problems starting it at all, whether warm or not.

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

That's something I've certainly thought about - and the end result is that the fuelling is on such a knife edge that some bikes do this, and others don't. It's a crap shoot, it seems. This is also born out by the fact it's inconsistent - the bikes that do it don't do it all the time, they do it...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

When they had mine, I offered to have some kind of monitoring kit on the bike, so they could actually see what was happening when it happened. I also asked them to try a power commander, see if it made any difference. They didn't respond to either of those. It can't be beyond their wit to...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

This is just so stupid. It's absurd that they still say this. Lots of people coming to them with the *exact* same problem, but they still say it doesn't exist? Are they actually starting the bikes up, or does someone sit on it and go 'broom broom' for a few minutes, then go back to their...

    The beginning of the end...

Actually, I find the biggest limitation on the number of bikes / cars I can have is not just money, it's another far more complicated thing, called a wife.

    The beginning of the end...

One for commuting, one to keep sparkly clean for weekends. A spare in case the commuter breaks down, and another one just in case one is being serviced, and the other one breaks down and the other one has just been cleaned and it's raining. Which in reality means you're then down to just one...

    The beginning of the end...

I'm probably gong to hang on to mine. I was thinking about what to buy next, but was offered an old but sound R1, which I'm in the process of tarting up and restoring to (almost) original. It turns out it is a stonking bike to ride. It kind of fills the gaps around the MT07 for me - it's...

Designed and 3D printed my own passenger peg blanking plates

I suppose I mean when it becomes commonplace, like PCs or television. When most people have one. I think it's really exciting tech. I'm just not sure I have the patience to deal with the aborted attempts/wonky prints that apparently are very common with the current state of the art non...

Designed and 3D printed my own passenger peg blanking plates

Thanks for the info. I reckon they look as good as any other 3d printed piece I've seen. This seems to still be a technology that has some way to go before it's 100% ready for the mainstream. Unfortunately though, as I carry a pillion regularly, I'm not in the market for these.

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

I'm not that far from them, I'm in Twickenham, About 20 mins. Maybe you could ask them if they want to take a look. Mine is probably exactly 2 years old now, so not sure if it's still in warranty, but considering the problem started as soon as I bought it, and was never actually resolved, if a...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

I've had mine for 2 years now. I'm totally used to it, and it only catches me out occasionally - it does the cough, but I'm usually ready for it and let the throttle off a bit. Still irritating though. Not just because it does it, but also because Yamaha and the dealer I bought it from were so...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

I reported it to VOSA, but they weren't interested. Yamaha were pretty pissed off with that. But, you know, Yamaha can do one. Just out of interest, I find mine does it in 'clusters', it won't do it for weeks, then does it 3 times in a one hour journey. I think it's some kind of software...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

I assumed it was economics. Presumably the fix is expensive, but not all the bikes are duff, so it's cheaper to ignore the unlucky buyers than have to recall all of them. Shame they were so ignorant about it though. I asked for a loan bike during the month and a half they had mine, and they...

What printer and software are you using? I have been thinking about a 3-d printer for a while, and have been playing with blender.

    Ear phones

My worry with spending £650 on headphones would be what happens when I hook the cable round the clutch lever and tear it out. If it trash my 10 quid Sonys, I'd tut a bit and get some more. When my £80 audio tecnica ones stopped working in one ear I was a bit annoyed, but if I busted half a...

Engine cuts off when the clutch lever pulled in

Good luck with that. I sent mine back 3 times, they had it for over 6 weeks in total, and just told me there was nothing wrong with it. After the third time, the dealers refused to answer any emails or talk to me on the phone. If you do get a solution, I'd be interested to know as Yamaha...
