    Advice, Suggestions For Mods

Just personal opinion but with the Nitron on the rear I'm really happy with the bike and probably wont change the front at all now. For me the rear is enough, but I would say it's the best place to start and then see how you find the bike and whether you want to then upgrade the front.

    MT09 LED projector headlights

Must admit the Tracer headlights are brilliant from factory. I don't know why they fitted different lights to the MT when the Tracer's are so good to be honest. It's a common problem with LED projectors though (in cars too), because LED doesn't have much 'bleed', so the cut off is very stark...

    Front wheel torque specs

Front wheel axle - 65 Nm Caliper bolt - 35 Nm Pinch bolts - 23 Nm Get yourself a workshop manual, will save the hassle of constantly having to chase up torque specs ;)

    Rear lights

Not really. I don't think the rear light is a problem. Have seen MT09s/Tracers on the road and seem fine, the rear is lit and the brake lights stand out nicely when applied as they look very different by filling the entire area so easy to pick up on. Would be simply enough to wire in some red...

    Indicators

I keep anything more than a standard hose pipe away from my bikes. It might seem 'low powered' but a jet wash is a jet wash, if it's a strong enough jet to take the glue out of the indicators it'll easily damage things elsewhere.

    Chain slack on tracer?

Fair enough, but the post is in the Tracer section, so the assumption is we're following the Tracer manual ;) No worries, either way it's way too tight as stated, I wont argue with anyone who wants it that tight though, it's their bike so they can do as they like, just good to share opinions.

    Chain slack on tracer?

The owners manual actually says it should be on the centre stand: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1161680/Yamaha-Tracer-Mt09-Tra.html?page=85#manual Anyone who knows about why a chain needs slack (difference in position from gearbox sprocket and swingarm pivot) will appreciate why 5-15mm is...

    Matt black 09

Yeah it's not bad at all - I use it on the car as well and the water just beads off for ages. Doesn't last over 6 months like the description might lead you to believe, but it should last a good few months before needing a good top up. I just apply whenever I give the bike a really good clean.

    Indicators

Unless you're knocking them without realising it I have no idea. I would say maybe a stone hit it, but if the rear is the same then can't think what could have caused it.

    Matt black 09

I use Gtechniq C2 for matt paintwork (well gloss too as well). Repels water for months. It seems a touch pricey but you don't need much and it lasts ages. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gtechniq-0-5-C2-Liquid-Crystal/dp/B00CE03HYA

    Loose Screen Adjusters

Exactly the same here, simply replaced them and don't have the problem anymore. I tend not to need to adjust the screen once it's at a height I like so I don't have a problem with it being less 'quick release'. The new system they have on the GT is a much better idea though.

    Indicators

Never had any bikes where indicators would simply break unless they had been hit. Where do you park, is it on the street where people can knock them?

Throttle valve issues - no signal from ECU

Not sure I'd believe in a little over 3 years someone has managed to lose both black keys and the red key. I'd be more concerned it's a stolen bike you've bought, or a crashed/recovered one. Wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole if I'm honest.

10%out of sync speed on the speedometer

I had one previously and they come with the correct connectors to fit into the harness. You would only have to splice for the universal kits that are intended for older bikes or if your particular bike isn't one they've made a version for yet. Police detection will be calibrated to show your...

I have a nitron shock on mine and it's a great upgrade, transforms the bike.

    Brake pads

I don't know many bikes that would come with organic these days. Organic are good in the dry but terrible in the wet and lose power quickly when the heat builds up. Sintered have much better heat dissipation due to the metal flecks in the material, so work more efficiently up to higher...

10%out of sync speed on the speedometer

Yeah up to 10% error is the manufacturers norm, nothing to worry about. It's illegal for them to under-read so they make them the other way to be sure. If it really bothers you, you can get a 'speedo healer' from Healtech - here's the UK ebay link...

Aux lights blank in switchgear - available button?

Thanks will have a look into that to see if it's a possibility. I like to keep my aux lights on a button so I can use in different conditions and more to increase being visible e.g. for filtering and poor weather conditions where you may not want full beam but a bit of extra light is a good...

    Auxiliary connector location

Remove screen, then remove the plate the screen screws to, then there's a cover that is removed with some plastic lugs that you push the centres to release. The plugs are easily accessible underneath that. This is on the Tracer though, not sure if the MT is slightly different but wouldn't have...

Aux lights blank in switchgear - available button?

Hi all, New to the forum, recently got a 2016 Tracer 900 and so far really enjoying it. I've noticed a few people add auxiliary lights, which I do to most of my bikes, but it's not a wiring question I have (that's the easy bit), more of a switch location. I want something that looks a bit...
