    Mt 09

has he said what he will be replacing for the £2000? Is it a new gearbox? Its not something simple like your chain and sprockets are totally worn out and the chain is skipping the sprockets? I used 2nd hand engine is around the £1500 mark in the UK, depending on the state of yours it may be...

    Nobody reads these, right?

ive read it, just wondered why does it say test ride in English on the bike and not in Greek?

dont think it will make much difference. Mines standard but I still get covered with crap in the rain

    Mystery nuts?!!

did you have anything added when you purchased? New screen, rad covers etc? They could be original parts they took out when new items added

    2017 MT-09 seat....too short

Had an 2005 FZ6N before the MT09 and agree the pillion comfort is nowhere near as good, and also the FZ had grab handles. I had a screen on the FZ6 and also one on my MT, cant say i really noticed any difference And yes, my wife prefered going pillion on the FZ, its comfier and safer, and as its...

    Modified Standard Exhaust System.

You took a lot more out of the exhaust than I did when I did mine. Can you post a video up of what it sounds like, and if you have smart phone you can download a decibel meter to get an idea on sound. From memory, mine went from 86db to 92db on tickover, with phone held about 6 inches from pipe exit

    Intermittent Discharging of Battery

Im no expert but would say its not the battery, but a loose wire somewhere, or something you have added is faulty. All your readings are what they should be, so doesnt seem like charging problems. For reference my MT is now 3 and a half years old, 21000 miles, used regularly and I dont use a...

    Tyres

I currently have the Michelin pilot road 3's, they have done just over 5000 miles, still a fair bit left. Very good all round, I ride year round so can safely say great in the wet

    Brake pad replacement

Bike now done over 21000 miles, and the pads are getting low. I have a 2013 non ABS model, and am happy with the braking performance. The OE pads are £33 a set from my dealer, £19 for the EBC similar parts, or Pyramid parts sell the full set, front & rear, for £29 (link below). I will probably...

Best sport touring tires for MT09 2017

I have the Michelin Road Pilot 3's. They have done over 6000 miles and are still OK. I use my bike year round, and they are good in the wet

    Pilot road 4

I had a similar experience as soon as I changed the original S20's to Bridgestone BT023 back in early 2014. My symptoms were a high speed weave that started at 100mph, which got worse the faster you rode. Took it back to fitter straight away (ie within 100 miles), he checked everything, and...

    Engine squeal?

your starter switch is not sticking is it? I had my starter switch replaced under warranty. If the starter doesn't disengage properly, that would make a squealing sound. Where abouts are you?

    Aftermarket Exhaust recommendations

The full system Akra's are expensive as they are a full system. The standard MT exhaust is one piece, so if you buy an end pipe you have to chop your original one up. I like the look of the standard exhaust, so modded mine myself. Basically took my standard one of, cut of the top with an angle...

    Engine squeal?

Theres a common rattle from either the clutch or cam chain tensioner (CCT). The clutch noise stops when the clutch is pulled in. Never heard of a squeal, could it be coming from the starter motor (not disengaging on startup?)

    Would you?

yes, id replace my 2013 mt09 with a 2017 model if something happened to mine

    Insurance

ive been with bennets for a few years now, pay about £125 for multi bike policy, fully comp. Never had a claim, so dont know what they are like to deal with then.

    2nd bike choice?

i've looked at the crf250l, they seem good value 2nd hand, about the £3000 mark, and you wouldnt loose much money keeping it for a few years. The Suzuki DRZ400's and Yamaha XT600's are good but now old, and are starting to go up in price. A bigish scooter (300cc plus) are a good laugh, much...
