    Chain slack on tracer?

people have been talking regarding the MT09 since it was released in 2013. I bought mine in October 2013 and set my slack to 25-30mm back then(the MT doesnt have a centre stand). I have now done 20500 and am still on the original chain and sprockets, plenty of life still left in them

    24000 mile service

seems flippin expensive! I thought shims would be no more than £5 each. I'm sure my dealer quoted me approx £350 for the 24000 service (mines now at 20200 miles) Is there a big difference between checking and swapping over?

    Wear & Tear

I know its an old post, but I have hit 20,000 miles this week, still on original chain & sprockets and brake pads. (front pads are getting low, maybe another 2-3000 miles) No oil burning issues, and finish still looks good, and has now seen 3 British winters

    Standard exhaust mod... 2nd edition

Very nice mate, any idea how much louder it sounds? When I did mine, from memory it went from 88db to about 92db on tickover, so not overly loud, but noticeably better than standard, however I didnt gut mine like you have, I only removed the pipework in the 3rd chamber and drilled some holes...

    Rear indicator lenses falling off

mine are still on after 3 years and 20000 miles. they are screwed in, so unless the plastic threads are knackered, they shouldnt come undone and fall off

How are you finding the MT-09?

Had mine coming up for 3 1/2 years, got it when it first came out in oct 2013. Loved it then and still love it now. Done 20,000 miles on it, use it all year round, for commuting, fast ride outs and trackdays. No issues at all, much better than my R1

    Headlight bulb replacement

The ones I used yes, just a simple bulb replacement. Osram Nightbreaker and 2 led sidelights. The main bulb was about £7, and the sidelights £1 for 2, all off ebay

How much is your bike worth?

I was offered £3800 last year on my 2013 MT09 and it had done 18000 miles against the tracer 700. Guess its worth about £3600 now

    Chain care/lube/ACF50

i use gear oil on mine, and occasionally wd40 and also acf50 like you. Mine has now done 20000 miles, and seen 3 british winters, and still looks OK, and hasn't stretched yet either

    Interesting times

looks promising, hopefully we will see a lot more of this sort of thing. 400 miles is fine for me, and i expect would be for most people, especially if we could charge it at home. £8000 is MT09 money for R1 performance, and warranty wise they are in theory simple, a battery and an electric motor

    Newbee - 2017 MT-09

Hi and welcome. Had an R1 previously, got my MT09 october 2013 and still really enjoying it, nearly up to 20000 miles, do double the miles I did on the R1

    Battery?

As bloggsy said, try a decent charger, something like an optimate which checks it can hold a charge. Either that or try a jump start from another bike or bump starting it

    Normal unleaded or premium unleaded

Just to add to this thread, I have now had my MT09 just over 3 years, and have recorded 144 fill ups with the fuelly app on my smartphone. Apart from being more expensive, I have also got less mpg with the higher rated octane. Using super unleaded I have never once got over 45mpg. On average I...

    New guy

Hi & welcome, lovely looking in red, and good price. Never know, may see me riding round Southwold or Thorpeness, I ride round that way quite a bit!

Is this a good trade in price from 2015 09. to 2016 09 tracer

The deal doesnt sound to bad at all. Basically you are having to fork out £1550 for a bike thats £1000 more than the MT new, plus its newer with less miles. If you like it I would get it at that deal. If your not in a rush and want to save money, you could sell yours private and buy the tracer...

MT09 2015 hard start and stall

Mine hits 105 degrees every day I ride through the city and get stuck in traffic, its totally normal. Mine has now done over 19000 miles, and no problems so far. As for hard starting, it most likely poor servicing. Do you trust that your dealer has done what you have paid for? I had my plugs...

    Busted Engine

Excellent photos on your Flickr account. I'm not an expert, so not sure if rod snapped first or conrod bolt failed first. Just as well you got a 2nd hand engine as there is not much salvagable left! Thanks for sharing and updating us Relz
