Which mobile phone holder?

Hi relz. Jus wondering if you found a good holder? I just received the same usb charger and have a samsung galaxy.

Waiting for someone else to pick up one first, and recommend it ;)
 
I couldn't find one I liked. So I've installed a Double USB car cigarette light adaptor under the seat. Then I can plug my iPhone into that. The cable comes out from the front of the seat, up into my jacket and into my iPhone which is in my pocket. The built in Maps sat nav in iOS 7 speaks directions into the in ear headphones I wear. It works for me anyway.

I know I can pick up a reasonably good one (with guarantee etc.), in a local store, for about 45$.

So what are you using?
Have you come across a reasonably prices Ebay model, that fits the MT handlebar nicely?

I have the 3rd one uv posted a picture of...had it a year or so and its really good... very sturdy, can be put almost anywhere and completely waterproof...
 
I finally went ahead with it and bought a (couple of) mobile phone mounts.

I decided to get the cheapo one from Ebay, seeing that it's so cheap including shipping to Israel etc.

Then about 15 minutes after the purchase, I changed my mind and decided to buy a proper one :rolleyes:

So I went ahead with this much sturdier looking RAM M8 Screw Motorcycle Short Arm Mount with X-Grip .
The only reason I can afford it now, is that a Pal of mine is in the US next week and shipping to the US is free.


Anyone want a cheapo mobile phone holder?
I'm willing to send it to you anywhere in Israel :)

I installed the USB charger to the aux plug by ordering the extra plug and connectors. I picked up the waterproof holder from a local bike shop. It also has a connection you can hard wire into the bikes electrics. It all works well.

Finally got my RAM X-Grip, with M8 mount.

The M8 mount is really minimal, and the X-grip seems to hold the phone pretty steady (and hopefully provide some shock absorbing too). I think it does the job nicely.

Here are a few pics of my setup, you can also see where I stuck the USB socket. I tried to keep a relatively tidy look with minimal extra parts, and a short USB wire.

BTW I did receive the cheap mobile phone holder, about one day before my expensive RAM one arrived, and I had a chance to test it.

It's actually not bad, considering it cost only 3-4$ (including shipping). The phone clicked in firmly and felt pretty solid, and the mount also has a hole for the mobile phone camera, in case you want take some action movies (although it came out very wobbly, I think you need a proper video camera with a built in stabilizer).
The mount and the tightening screw feel a bit cheap, I think they would get a bit loose after a fair amount of riding. Although on my 20 minute ride to work, it was solid and steady.
Another disadvantage is that you need to remove any protective rubber covers that you may have on your phone, as it is designed such that the original phone clicks in perfectly. Besides being a nuisance to remove my protective cover every time, it also feels unsafe to me, in case I drop it or whatnot.

So if you want something cheap, for every now and then, I'd recommend the one that I mentioned above.
