I've now joined the club, I've scraped/dented my Akra [emoji24]

Little dip in the road at the bottom of a sweeping downhill turn.

Could have done with a carbon guard or something, ah well, too late now!

Have upped the rear damping to max (was one click shy) and taken the pre load up another notch, now at max or one below so will see how that goes.

PS Yamaha, thanks for the shite suspension thats ruined the expensive exhaust that YOU sold me [emoji35]

When you gonna recall that you sons of bitches? I only weigh 12.5 stone so deffo not the heaviest of your target audience.

Im waiting to hear from FTR that my Ohlins shock and springs are in. Get it set up right then !.

Thanks yeah, no point dwelling on it but clearly that rear shock is not right for that bike.

Its being built up in Sweden with a suitable spring rate for my fully adjustable waist line ! [14 1/2 stone] My standard suspension is set just shy of max. Any more and its arse kick out of the seat. Any softer and its like Tigger on acid !

sorry chap but that rates as C- on the damage scale.......ive ripped a big split through the outer casing as well as ripping the e mark band off on mine.......done at 5mph on a speed bump. i should/will make a bash plate up when i get back to it.

......and i spoke to mama maxton this morning about suspension. im a bit disappointed that theyre not doing a remote res. shock as id rather have them than a nitron....

lol no [emoji51] She's only 10 Stone anyway but both of us combined are 22.5 stone + gear, going by what happened with just me on there the MT would probably have fallen apart with both of us on board.

aye, i ripped mine apart with around 140kg on board, ive told her she has to diet as 44kg is just too much..................

....and so is 12kg of make-up and hair products.....

Thinking about it this is a serious safety concern, this really isn't fit for purpose at all.

Under the speed limit
Normal road
Just me on board
Suspension near enough already maxed out
I'm not over the max permissable rider weight
Akrapovic was a genuine Yam accessory sold and fitted by them

If I'd have had a passenger on board it could have been a different story, anything scraping is reducing tyre grip. Could have had the rear wheel wash out or even skip.

All that boils down to a product that is not only not fit for purpose but also a genuine potentially serious safety concern.
Ever heard of a standard 6 month old car scraping the floor while travelling down a normal A road?

Ouch. I've damaged a few to know how much that particular sound hurts!

I think the time has come where manufacturers should offer an optional (at cost) spring rate.
With lowered suspension and lower seats being available to the new purchaser from some manufacturers, I really can't see where there could be a problem.

It is after all the most important thing to get right before any other part of the suspension, and not that expensive an item to produce when manufactured in bulk.
They'd just have to supply a greater range of damping to compensate for the different spring rates on the shock and forks.

Sorry to see this mate, I'm counting the days till I hear that noise and want to bury my head in the sand rather than look!

Down under reckon they have a solution, not sure if it looks up to the job though, plus is it normal for a bash plate to bolt straight into the sump?

I have done about 500 miles with a pillion, fast and bumpy roads, supsension preload set on 5 and never touched down (about 22 stone in 2 up weight)

Can't get that link to load? But if its to a bash plate that bolts to the sump, I think thats a bad idea. Ideally the bike should not be grounding out like that at all.

I don't know if its any lower, had it fitted straight from the dealership.
