RPM meter

I wonder if there is any sane way to connect some external rpm meter in my-09 or even whole dashboard like AIM. Rpm readings from mt-09 dash sucks donkey balls I cannot read anything, I have even put some color tapes over so I have at least some marks .
With cars one can use obd2 and connect anything. How is it with my-09?

You could always buy a Tracer, with nice clear display ;)
