Taking the baffles out will have much more effect than the size of the pipe. My R1 has a huge can on it, and sounds pretty unremarkable with the baffles in. Take them out and it's like all the Norse gods have got together for a farting contest.

I'm looking at the baby Multistrada. It has a 950 engine, so slightly more practical as a commuter. I'm not quite convinced it's small enough for traffic, and also Ducati haven't got a sterling reputation for reliability, but I'm possibly going to get overruled by how good it looks. One thing...

Have to say, while most service schedules do call for brake fluid changes at this kind of interval, I have rarely ever changed brake fluid on a bike. If I do, I'll normally just pump new stuff through, without emptying the system. If the brakes work, I just roll with it.

The problem with those pipes is they are painted with some really thin laquer like stuff. You can't remove the discolouration, it's damaged paint. It needs rubbing back to metal and repainting.

The pipes seem to be a common problem. I heard some were repainted under warranty. The position of them is always going to make them vulnerable. Probably better to have them powder coated. The finish on the MT07 is cheap. There are quite a few places prone to corrosion. I keep mine plastered...
