i'm not surprised, with the ridiculous 5-15mm tension recommended by Yamaha it could only end in tears. My MT hit 24000 miles this week and no issues, but I run my slack at 25-30mm

I dont think the tracer and MT09 are the same, the mounting brackets are different. I'm sure someone on here bought one to modify, and it was only after he had modded the exhaust he realised the mounting brackets were different

Ive had the shorty adjustable one of Ebay fitted for over 3 years now, they are fine

has it thrown a front wheel balance weight? I'd recheck all the bolts in the front end, just in case something has come loose. Are both fork preloads at the same height?

Either the headraces are loose and/or the top nut you have pictured is loose. No bike should knock from the front forks like you describe, it proves the head races are either extremely worn or loose. If the 17 plate did it to, it doesnt prove they are all like that, just the shop you bought it...

I have had the MT09 since new in 2013, so nearly 4 years and over 23000 miles. Still enjoy it, a very capable bike, and does what i want on the type of roads I ride (ie fast rides with mates on sportbikes, commuting and taking the kids on the back) I have ridden the Tracer, and its a great bike...

Im not aware of anything, but one thing to near in mind is the MT is fly-by-wire, ie the throttle cable doesnt directly control the fuel injectors. When you twist the throttle, the cables tell the ECU what you want, and the ECU will decide how much fuel the injectors lets through. By the way you...
