automatic canceling turn signals

the 1992 XV535 had self cancelling indicators that worked on distance travelled so why did they stop fitting them to modern bikes?

Even if I fitted them it's so ingrained in me to cancel them I'd still do it anyway, so not much use IMO (for me at least).

My '81 SR500 has self-cancelling indicators, but I always cancel them anyway, I can't help it. Every now & then on the Tracer I hit the horn button when trying to cancel the indicators

Different machine different rules.. On a bike you have to cancel the indicators. In a car you don't! Never had an issue with it.
