The flash is well worth doing. I bought the bench flashing kit as i can also flash my Super Tenere so it was worth the investment.
Disabling the o2 sensor, and enabling the injectors on Deceleration makes a massive difference to the bike. removing the restrictions in 5th and 6th also makes a huge improvement in power on the motorway.

Is it ok to leave the O2 sensor on when you've had the flash done-only to save messing about taking it off?
Yes of course. You can always disconnect it and tape it up if you really want to

My closed loop has been disabled for a while, there is no issue leaving the sensor plugged in and installed in the pipe.
I have the plug for the pipe laying around somewhere eventually i will get around to installing it to clean up the looks
