See my pic above, I believe intention by Evotech is for their new bracket to go under the fan mount each side, then all lays flat, if you try put their bracket on existing fan mount the ribs sticking up will mean bolts not long enough.
I would also imagine if you do put bracket on top of existing the whole guard will pulled close to rad more so.
