Gaiter for rear shock

Still fretting about this exposed shocker so am thinking of fitting a gaiter.Question, Is the shocker under compression when the bike is on the side stand? My worry is if I withdraw the forwarcd mounting bolt and lever the shocker up out of its mount will it expand and be a pig to get back into its mount/ Cheers Brianj

It is still under compression wile on the side stand, you will
have to support the bike in a way that takes all weight off
the rear wheel/suspension.

This one does not seem to need the shock removing.
