Headlight bulb replacement

Might be a daft question but can you not get a led light to replace the oem bulb? Or I guess it's a lot more complicated...

You can get LED main bulbs (H4) but they are only for looks, i tried some in a car a year or so ago and although they looked good close up - nice and white, the beam pattern was all over the place and at distance you couldn't see bugger all.

LED main bulbs are really only fitted to very high-end cars as they're expensive to make, don't go for the chinese ones unless it's for show.

Glad I found this post. My headlight runs crazy hot, which is obviously wasted energy. Ordering new LED lamps now.

A good option for those that do any amount of night riding is an HID projector light. I got my complete unit from KT Moto, with the halo for the DRL and a red demon eye in the projector for when the HID is turned off. Excellent light output and looks great!
