So Saturday night I was thinking about just going somewhere, an hour later a hotel had been booked in Edinburgh. Saturday morning was an early start and 6 hours with no panniers and my gear in my rucksack nearly crippled me!!. However now back at home and what an experience.

My question to you all is what was your impulse trip?

Impulse trips are often the best don't you think.

I think my best one goes back to the seventies (showing my age here) We were all at our local around closing time on a Saturday night when someone suggests riding to Brands for the Hutchinson 100 (anyone remember that - they went the wrong way round the circuit) So off we all go, about seven of us on various 250 two strokes, just leather jackets and jeans and no gear of any description (apart from some of the grassy sort as I remember ;) ) 150 miles and some hours later we got there tired hungry and thirsty and found a lay by on the main road and just slept on the grass verge ! We woke frozen even though it was summer and attempted to flag down a passing milk float for a pint, for some reason half a dozen long haired disheveled yobs waving madly as they climbed out of the bushes seemed to put him off stopping !!
Anyway the day was brilliant, blazing hot sun with Sheene on the Suzuki and Read on the MV (Sheene won ) and a mad teenage two stroke ride home.........Happy Days !!!

Both sound like a couple of real good trips, not quite as impromptu but leaving the north east on Wednesday, heading in the general direction of the west coast of Scotland, no accommodation or anything booked or any real route planned, just going to see where the road leads and return home for Friday night, 3 whole days of fun. Can't wait :)
