Hey guys fitted a pair of fleabay why does the brake want to stay on?fits well only for that.any ideas

Sounds like the wrong lever profile for the master cylinder & it's constantly pressing the piston in, even at rest. I'd take it off & compare the shape of it (from the pivot to where it contacts the piston) to the one you had on before.
 
still waiting for mine to show up-my FZ ones fitted perfect. god bless china, they might not be good for rhino preservation but they knock out the copys real cheap.......
 
Be very careful with the cheep levers from eBay. I know a guy who came off his track bike at knockhill and smashed his ankle to smithereens cos they were sticking on slightly while he was cornering.

Yeh could of been worse but knew something wasn't right,ill put them side by side and see,cheers.
 
Only bit of difference I can see is that the piston hole does not look as deep on the aftermarket lever,will try and drill it out abit,

ah yeah, i had 1 issue with a set of ER6 levers in thailand where the socket in the lever wasnt deep enough and it held the brake on by a gnats todger. i got a drill and eased the hole a bit, took 2 mins tops and all was well after that.
 
I'm never buying them again to be honest. I know only a minority of people who own these will have an issue, but I don't fancy putting my bike or myself Down the road cos I went belltinky round a corner and my brake was binding slightly.
Here's a question guys - have any of you aquaplaned on a bike. I have done it a few times riding around in the wet at night withy tinted visor on, didn't see the standing water and lost all feeling through the front end , iffy brakes has been binding even slightly , I probs wouldn't be here to tell the tale.
Each to his own , I just don't wanna see any fellow bikers suffer from something so silly , we should all live long exiting biking lives or go out in a blaze of glory.
 
so, i buy a £200 rip off priced set of branded levers.............made in china, or i buy a chinese set of no name but 99% indentical levers off ebay for £15 which were most likely made in the same factory, fit them, raise the front wheel and check for binding........and adjust if needed........i think i know what id be doing with that spare £185......buying more chinese tat. :)

I know what you are saying dude and I agree but in this case , it's questionable.
All the show offs would say "cheep and cheerful, as long as they look smart cos I don't use brakes" fair play to them. I use my brakes and they are the most important part of any vehicle. I hit a guy once in Edinburgh, didn't see him walk right out in front of me, was on my fazer at the time and the brakes were in need of attention , managed to slow down but still hit him at about 15mph , I stayed on the bike luckily enough but he went to the hospital with 2 fractured ribs and a spiral fracture in his collar bone, which I've had (fecking sore) , ever since that day I've always made sure that if anything worked perfectly , it was my brakes lol.

I work for a DAF truck dealership in Edinburgh, I have major disrespect for any customers that purchase the cheap crappy discs and pads (£200) as opposed to the OE quality ones (£260)
They need to remember that it isn't just a vehicle , it's a lethal weapon if it can't stop in time.

^^^^^I know what you mean... I've been driving artics for 20 years now and breaks are very important... especially when you have 44tn pushing u on lol

i thought we were talking about levers, not pads? i cant see any way that i could apply enough pressure to a piece of aluminium and a stainless steel bolt to snap it, and still stay upright on the bike. i bought triumph levers for £150 cos i was feeling flash, i later swopped them out for £15 chinese items which look exactly the same and worked the same. i sold the triumph ones for £92 on ebay.

Yeah i did the same with my r6 bought pazzo levers £135
bought cheap chinese ones for my er6 and they looked exactly the same just fitted same to my mt09 :cool:
