Matte paint finish and Akrapavic exhaust system

Does anyone on the forum own or know anyone who owns an MT-09 with the Matte paint finish? I'd like to know how it stands up to the weather and washing etc.

Also has anyone heard the MT-09 running with the full Akrapovic exhaust system fitted?
Perhaps Admin could obtain a sound track and post it on the forum?

and lastly has anyone experienced the "snatchy" throttle response when accelerating from a closed throttle in both the Standard and A power modes that the British motorcycle press keep banging on about?
 
Yes, I have the MT09 in matt grey, it cleans up fine, in fact better than gloss ones. Just wash and towel the tank dry, it leaves no streaks.
I havent heard one with the akrapovik
Yes, the throttle is snatchy in A and standard, but that said, so do all modern Yamahas and other bikes. I took the FZ8 and FZ1 for test rides, and they are nearly as bad.
In my opinion, they throttle is not particually snatchy, its more aggressive, the way the power comes in. Think more like a tuned bike, or a 2 stroke motocross bike. In B mode, it is fine, but not as much fun
 
I think I remember from reading the Manual, that the matte grey shouldn't be washed with a brush due to the paints finish.

Snatchy throttle? Depends if you are in Family with a certain mr. Neeves :-)
From my point of view - No, it is not snatchy. It is responsive in A mode though, Std and B have no issues.
 
I don't find the throttle to be snatchy neither. I love riding with mode A. It's so fun! Except when it's raining of course.

And I'd also like to hear the sound of the akra exhaust, with and without the DB killer, if any. It's not yet available here though.
 
thanks stevecbr that's helpful. I believe the so called "snatchy" throttle response is due to fly by wire. I didn't have any problems with the demo bike I rode, just wondered if anyone else has or if it was a one off on the bike tested by MCN. Great to hear that the matte finish is ok 'cos that's the one I'm getting.
 
SuperMotoBoy, thanks for you reply and for the tip on washing the matte tank finish. Since I posted I've managed to find a special wash and polish for matte finishes, so I hope it does the trick. I agree with you on the throttle issue, I didn't find it snatchy just crisp in standard and A modes. I used to own a Z1 Fazer when they first came out and I never had any fuelling problems with that either, but MCN did, they banged on about it and affected sales. As you say it must be the Neeves syndrome the've gotta have something to criticize to make them sound thorough. I see in their latest shoot out in MCN the MT-09 also now has a vague front end and the brakes don't work either! good job I trust my own judgement or I wouldn't buy one.
 
Hi SlanGlad, my Yamaha dealer is waiting for the first Akrapovic full system to arrive and he is going to fit it to his demo bike, he will let me know when it is ready and I'll have a go. I'll be interested to see what it sounds like with and without the DB Killer and if it makes any difference to fuelling; torque or acceleration. I'll post my thoughts afterwards.
 
Its not snatchy, its responsive. It has a throttle level for everybodys level of experience or adrenaline requirement.
If you find it too responsive for the road you are on or the type of ride you want-put it into 'B'mode-still an exhillarating ride!
When i go to the NEC Bike show in Birmingham next month and i get enticed to ride various bikes from Ducati, Bmw, etc, i am going to refuse.
When the rep asks me why, i am going to tell them that motorcycle news and mr neaves have stated that ALL BIKES EXCEPT TRIUMPH ARE CRAP!.
Hopefully. Neaves, MCN reps and Triumph dealers will be seen limping and bruised after the exhibition ends.
