Quick shifter: has anyone installed one or planning to yet?

Also, what do you think about up shifting without a clutch on MT? since thats would you gonna do by installing it

I always clutchless up change on the MT. Only from 2nd upwards thought. No need for the clutch. Very smooth changes indeed

I always clutch, previous owner of my Supermoto used to up shift without clutch which down the line (in my ownership) caused it to need a gearbox rebuild which turned out quite expensive. I figure I'm not on a racetrack and i'd rather drop a few milliseconds when shifting than run in to gearbox troubles some time in the future. Whether or not the MT would ever have issues I don't know, but after seeing all the internals of my Supermoto's box and seeing just how a very small amount of wear on various parts could cause it to start slipping out of gear I'll always be using the clutch.

I never use the clutch changing up. A quickshifter is a waste of money on the road tbh.

Just to add to my previous post, I'm aware that motorcycle transmissions are constant mesh so that you won't grind gears, it's the drive dogs and selector fork that "could" get worn during clutchless shifts, and if these wear it'll end up slipping out of gear.

So for me personally, after spending 7k on a bike I'm happy to just pull the clutch in for a fraction of a second.

Don't know whether you already do or not but I always ride with one finger on the clutch lever at all times (stems from trials riding) so pulling it in is a very quick motion.

Quickshifters are for track bikes and gadget freaks with more money than sense who go fitting them to road bikes. If you want to go faster, buy a faster bike or learn how to ride smooth and fast.

I'll upshift without using the clutch when the engine is not loaded, such as cresting a hill and it flattens off or drops again and you don't need any more throttle but need the next gear.

Marlboromt has one on his bike, but he does use it on the track quite a lot.

I also use the clutch always for down shifts and most of the time for up shifting. Two fingers on the lever is a habit formed from years of two strokes that would nip up at any moment.

im with you on this one rip, I always upshifted on my dirtbikes without clutch but on road bikes always use the clutch.

I tough about it but It's a track thing. I will be doing few track days with mine but if it come down to track day being something I would do more than 3-4 times a year I will get a proper track weapon. I can get a older R6 or Gixxer rhat would be more track suitable.
