RUST after only 6 weeks!

Ok so just checking out if anyone else has noticed any areas of rust appearing early doors to their beloved beast?

I've had the bike 6 wks from new and today I noticed rust inside the handle bar end, the one that sits up when the bike is on its stand on the exhaust side of the bike.

A bit shocked to see rust at this stage as the bike has barely seen water and only washed it properly 3 times now. I can only imagine some water has crept in and it must be an area that didn't get dowsed in protective spray which I've applied in an OCD type manner after each of those washes.

Anyone else had this or other areas I need to be pointing my protective spray at?

I have it inside both bar ends. I too have a slight obsession with cleaning and ACF50 but alas....! It did not stop the oxidisation lol

Yer sadly for me I have rust comeng out of my shock ... am a tad worried about that

i dont tend to over wash mine...................or spray stuff on it. ........looks like im in for trouble then....indexb.webp
 
yep, just 1 spot of rust and then 3 weeks later................................

That's nothing to worry about, all that is is where water has collected in the head of the bolt and gone to work on bolt itself.

Mine is exactly the same. Dealer replacing rear shock under warranty. Already done one ! Can't complain though top service so far from SMC, very quickly replaced my Cam Chain Tensioner.
 
In the dealer now there gona replace the rear shock when it comes in . There slight issue with the early mt09 devolving rust on the shaft . Really good services from them , getting rid of them Dunlop while am here

What about the oxidation on the bolts on the front brake calipers.

Does any one got that?
Mine hasn't seen a drop of rain.
