Carol and I had already decided that we would probably go to the Canaries again for our January holiday this year, when I came across a write-up in the 'Ride' magazine 'Tours 2015' supplement for "Canary Motorcycle Tours" ( Amazing Motorcycle Tours in the Canaries. Biking's Best Kept Secret. ) - so it seemed like fate was lending a hand :)

Phone calls and emails followed along with lots of research into flights, baggage, insurance, transfers and so on until we had all the details in place for our trip which started on 2nd January.

So while Britain shivered we were riding round Gran Canaria behind Martin, our guide and expert instructor, on the most magnificent, twisty roads I've ever seen. :D

I've put a review and some pics on Tripadvisor - it hasn't been published yet but this will get you to the right page when it is and it will save me typing it all again ( Canary Motorcycle Tours Reviews - Telde, Gran Canaria Attractions - TripAdvisor )

Please note the 100% 5 star rating - everyone who's reviewed has loved it !

Suffice to say that I think there's a strong possibility we'll be going back in the next few years to get another fix of riding spectacular roads, in the sun, rather than bemoaning the grotty Winter weather here.

I rode a V-Strom 650 - perfect IMHO, enough grunt for the tight roads and plenty of engine braking.
Mine was hired in though, to replace one that had been damaged a couple of weeks before our arrival - they're normally Honda CB600s.
SWMBO had a CBF and found it was also well-suited to the conditions - there's SO many bends you hardly get past 3rd gear anyway.
One day we got caught by about 6 locals on gixxers and R1s but they weren't going very much quicker than us - and they knew the roads!
