Changing the CO settings in the DIAG menu

Thought you werent keen on a PCV - you keeping the TB then?

Really keen to hear how that goes!

Im also getting a PCV (pretty much free might I add woop woop!) so am going to get it on a dyno in a month or two to see what it does - lets compare notes when its all done :)

I wasn't too keen but wasn't gonna say no to a free PCV lol. My bike will be the main MT-09 picture on the TB website soon as well as they want to use it as the MT (not FZ)! guinea pig for Europe.

Nice one!

PC has a TB custom map on their site - will be interested to know how that runs or if it needs to be tweaked further.

That's wot they're putting on the PCV for us.

We put a custom map on a PCV and fitted it for one of our UK members who has the MT Akrapovi fitted about a month or so ago and it didn't need any tweaking at all. Our dyno tech said it was perfect. I will be very interested to see wot the TB map does.

Lucky for you guys.

Nearly every PC map ive seen here is good but far from perfect - usually 80% there and you need a tune to clean it up.

Probably due to enviromentals and our less polluted air hey :p

Turned mine up to
C1- 86
C2- 23
C3- 113

Let's see how that works out at full chat in A mode on the M8 tomorrow. Listen out for me on the traffic reports

Or just dyno tuners looking for more dollars :)

Hey Mate,

I spend the last 2-3 weeks hammering on my PCV map for my exhaust. (Autotune & LCD-200 data logger) Bike pull good now. I didn't used the O2 optimizer since I didn't want to run 13.6 AFR all the time to keep the fuel tank range. When I was done I got the brilliant idea to plug both controller in series. LOL I loaded the zero map in the PCV and turn off the AT and use it to work on the EJK tune and data log my runs. I change few things around on the tune. Lowering the YB was the biggest improvement on part throttle acceleration. Even on the data and from the butt dyno, the EJk was running much smoother across the range and at WOT it was a bit more stable.

We just finish the Akra tune too, just waiting on some dyno run to confirm the settings. According to my buddy, throttle is very nice now! :)

I can't remember your settings but look at those (Download PDF How too for EJK) and let me know where you end up. I'll put the TB exhaust on the list. Marthy Motorcycle Exhaust Solution - Tech support

Cheers!

I do it sort of like this, its kind of hard without bike in front of me though, hold the two buttons in pressed on the dash, turn on ignition, keep them pressed until the dash displays "diag", I don't remember the rest really well but it's mainly about pressing the two buttons together except for adjusting the co which is left button add co and right button take away co, you do each cylinder seperately, and once each is set you double press and hold to lock it in then release, turn off ignition to finish the whole procedure. Sort of thing.:-)

Cheers for that, your instructions were more or less spot-on and I noticed the difference in the first 50m!

Matt Grey. Loads of carefully considered extras, all sourced as cheaply as possible of course!

Haha thats hilarious, cant say I thought of sticking a PCV and EJK back to back to fine tune the EJK.

Ive gotten ahold of a PCV at cost price so im going to test it on the dyno next friday to see what it does.

Ah ah. I had both of them plug in at the same time. LOL

If you do, plug in the MAP sensor in the extra PCV channel. The MAP sensor is on the fuel rail... pink wire. Email me when you're ready... the map is on my website. Try it with and w/o the O2 optimizerm but with the stock O2 sensor plug in.

I tried every single trick I had in my bag... Autotune and PCV is not fast enough to keep up with the ECU in close loop. PCV AFR did spike up/down compare to the EJK.

Try my shift point first then try the PCV... Im sure just like me the EJK will go back on rhe bike. :)

Just set my CO settings back to Zero again....

Mainly because I was missing the extra grunt. Going back to Zero was like discovering the 'A' mode for the first time all over again :D

I think I'm also getting a bit used to the snatchiness, as it's bothering me less than before, although it's a bit too soon to decide. Time will say...
I found that if I enter my problematic corners in a higher gear than before (i.e. 3rd instead of 2nd), and make sure to give the bike as much gas as I dare as early as possible, it's quite controllable. I think the extra strong torque compensates for the too high gear, as it has enough power to easily accelerate out of the corner in 3rd.

Either way, I plan to go down a different route, of trying to adjust the TPS or APS a bit better. I read a bit about it on the US forum, and indeed looking at the diag menus you can see a definite jump in the TPS from 16 - 21 (in my case) as soon as you roll on the throttle. According to the manual, the minimum setting could be anywhere between 11-21, so theoretically it may be possible to set the throttle to start after that jump, at 21.

I haven't yet removed the tank, or even seen where the TPS or APS are located, so it's all in theory so far.

One thing that confuses me is that I'm not totally sure what's the difference between the Throttle Position Sensor, and the Accelerator Position Sensor.
Or why there are two diag entries for the TPS (1&13) and two for the APS (14&15), as each pair seems to convey the same information...

From a quick (unprofessional) look at the diag entries (14&15), there is no jump in the APS it rolls linearly from throttle closed to opened. This could make sense if it's tracking the actual movement of the throttle grip, thank god I don't have Parkinsons yet, and I can still roll on the throttle without jumping/skipping a bit at the beginning...

What exactly is the TPS tracking? Why does it skip a few numbers at startup? Is that the cause (or a symptom) of the snatchiness that we feel?

I'd appreciate any input before I go around mucking with the sensors.

Cool - I was meant to have mine dynod friday but have had to delay it. Will post up also once its done.

I can tell u now it's way up over stock. The power is absolutely mental now and the snatchyness is all but none existent now
