I'm too scared to take mine off because if it leaves any glue residue I dunno how I'll get it off the matte paint as can't use polish.

I've got the matte grey and i just gave it a bit of heat with a hair dryer and took my time peeling it off, quick wipe with acf50 and your sorted.
Don't have anu acf50 (or similar) yet :-(

If you are careful enough when peeling it off there shouldnt be any residue left on the tank. wd40 / warm soapy water /wet wipe, anything like that will do the job.
Or, just some hot water from the kettle.
Then you can rub it off with your fingers 10 seconds later without any other use of tools or the like
That post was gold for fraping , but i am an adult !nitromors will also do the job , clean up residue with 4 inch grinder.... sorted

That method sounds quite tame for u mate...lol
If glue sticks to the tank after removing it, just put a little peanut butter on it and leave it for a good 15 minutes, you wipe it off easily then without damaging the most delicate of paints. Strange but it works!
